Locating Journal Articles

Think of searching for a journal article as a two-step process. The first step is to search for a journal citation in an index or database. The second step is to search for a library that has the journal. If you already have a journal citation, skip down to the Search for a Journal section.

Search for a Citation

Search an appropriate database to locate an article in your area of research.
Use the help files of each database for helpful searching tips.
A few selected databases are listed below.

Web of Science
Aquatic Sciences and Fisheries Abstracts
Oceanic Abstracts
BIOSIS Previews (Biological Abstracts, 1926-present)
GeoRef
Zoological Record
National Sea Grant Library Database
Ecology Abstracts
Water Resources Abstracts
Google Scholar

E Click on the Submit an Interlibrary Loan request link in the Article Linker window. Once you are logged in to ILLiad, the citation information is automatically loaded into the request form.
Be sure to put Send to DMC in the notes field. Submit request.

Search for a Journal

Search URSUS for the journal. If the journal is not at the DMC Library, and is not online, then go to ILLiad to submit an interlibrary loan request.
